Everyone is bound to make mistakes on moving day, even if they hire a professional like Bee’s Moving. Here are a few of the mistakes we see most often:
- Forgetting to cancel or set up utilities. Leaving utilities on at your old place is just a waste of money that you can’t get back. Make sure your utility companies know when they can shut off the power. On the other hand, make sure all of your utilities will be ready when you get to your new place.
- Pack the things you’ll need first, last. Make sure you have some basic supplies for your kitchen, bathroom supplies, and bedding easily available and labeled when you pack. That way you can access them quickly when you arrive at your new home. You don’t want to have to dig through your stuff just so you can make your bed.
- Hiring a bad mover. Do your research! Check out moving companies on Yelp and other review sites to make sure that the moving company you hire is reputable.
- Packing dangerous items. Items like charcoal, kerosene, bleach, and other dangerous chemicals cannot be moved safely by most moving companies. Have these items properly disposed of before moving.
